The Dog Advisory Work Group is a unique coalition of dog guardians and non-dog guardians, individuals and groups, private and public organizations, working together to help communities improve the overall coexistence of dogs, dog guardians and non-dog guardians. D.A.W.G.™ is a trademark of the Dog Advisory Work Group.
Mission:
D.A.W.G. is dedicated to sharing public spaces wisely & responsibly and to promoting & implementing public education & outreach about dogs, responsible dog guardianship and dog-related issues in communities.
Success
D.A.W.G. is a network of resources on community and dog-related issues. This includes public education and outreach; "Scoop the Poop™" and cleanup campaigns, including a partnership with Chicago's Streets and Sanitation Department; canine public behavior issues, including our dog behavioral "Do You Know These Warning Signs"™ poster; a network to help counter animal abuse and neglect, including Court Advocacy through Chicago's community policing (CAPS) program; recreational facilities; dog friendly area (DFA) information and assistance; and community and governmental relations.
Our Members, Liaisons, and Advisors
D.A.W.G.'s members are concerned community members, professionals of all sorts, community and neighborhood organizations, dog guardian groups, CAPS representatives, liaisons for local and national institutions and government agencies, businesspeople and students. We represent the active partnership of dog guardians and other people concerned with dog-related issues. Our Board of Directors includes both dog guardians and non-dog guardians. We are committed to community processes.
