| Day Care at Urban Out Sitters! |
|
We are proud to be pioneering a new concept of Day Care for dogs offering a healthy outlet for a dog's natural energies, instincts and behavior. Our Day Care is much more than a day-boarding facility. At Urban Out Sitters dogs socialize together. They run, play, wrestle, chase, play hide and seek, snuggle up together, or simply hang out with their friends and our staff.
Our groups range in size from just a few small dogs or puppies playing together to a large group that may include up to 12 well-adjusted, happy dogs. Day Care for dogs offers the opportunity for dogs to express their natural behaviors in a physically and psychologically healthy way.
Constantly supervised by a trained team of caring Day Care chaperones, our Day Care dogs play together, have snacks, lunch time, nap time, and even training if requested.
Our typical Day Care "parent" is a hard-working individual seeking to provide a healthy outlet for their dog's energy and natural behavior. Whether an at-home mom with kids or a two-income family with no kids, our clients want to furnish their dogs with the opportunity to be more than a couch potato, stay-at-home dog.
Day Care benefits dogs of all ages. We help housetrain young puppies, get them through teething without destruction, and give them critically important socialization with other puppies and nice dogs. Adolescents are probably our biggest group after all, these are the terrible teens, the time when dogs need exercise and playtime most. But even mature and elderly dogs benefit from Day Care. Just as exercise is good for people of all ages, so does it enrich the older dog.
Our staff watches out for the individual needs of every dog in our care. A senior citizen needing more rest will be brought into our reception area to hang out on a big, fluffy quilt by the computer. In the summer heat we bring out the hoses and pools. When we notice a change in one of "our" dogs' behavior, we're the first to let the owner know.

A dog arriving for Urban Out Sitters Day Care usually pulls his owner through the door.Happy to be there, he’ll greet our morning "runner" and go right to play. After romping with his buddies for several hours, we bring the dogs in so they can curl up for a snooze. During this rest period, we’ll give the dogs snacks or lunch, allow time for the meal to settle, then back out to play until it’s time to go home.
Dogs have continuous access to water in our facility. Dogs are supervised by caring chaperones constantly vigilant to changes in mood, signs of fatigue and meeting the needs of their four-legged friends.
When it’s time to go home, the "runner" will bring the dog back out to the owner, and we see a repeat of the morning routine. As happy as the dogs were to arrive in the morning, they’re equally pleased to greet their owners and go home. What could be better, a great day of friends and play, and a relaxed evening at home with loving "parents".

| timid, fearful & un-socialized dogs |
|
Our Day Care staff is unparalleled in their ability to recognize, deal with, and eliminate issues before they become problems. The careful introduction of new dogs is part of this skill. Each new dog is evaluated prior to introduction into the group, usually placed in a small group of staff dogs selected for their talents at bringing out the best in new friends.
Timid, un-socialized dogs are introduced at their own pace——in some cases, taking as long as two weeks to acclimate to the new environment. If a dog isn’t able to become comfortable with other dogs, we’ll explain to the owner that the Day Care environment is simply not in their dog’s best interest; however, we’ve found that many un-socialized dogs can become more comfortable, learning to react well, and even make friends with other dogs.
